THE USEFULNESS OF CORE HOUSE FROM THE VIEW POINT OF SPATIAL USE SITUATION

-In the case of Talam, Lima Koto Timur, Pariaman where is a stricken area at 2009 West Sumatra Earthquake-

Abstract

2009 West Sumatra Earthquake caused serious damage to mountainous areas. Core Houses were provided for house rebuilding at Padan Pariaman by NGO. It seemed that this core house was inherited from the case of house rebuilding in 2006 Central Java Earthquake. Comparing these two cases, the core house system seems to enhance effectiveness in community rebuilding on the same location. This paper shows the spatial use development and expansion of the core house in various directions at Talam, Lima Koto Timur, Padang Pariaman and shows its usefulness, cost efficiency, appropriateness, impact at devastated area for local people.
