Abstract
Thermal environment of the atrium where the environment was controlled by the solar shading and natural ventilation was measured. In occupied zone, the swing of temperature is very small throughout the year. In the case of ventilating, daytime temperature of first floor is 4℃ lower and 9℃ higher than outdoor temperature in summer and in winter, respectively. In the case of no ventilation temperature is high at the top of the enclosure, but the temperature isn't different on each floor between the cases with and without ventilation. The amount of transmitted solar radiation is reduced to about 16% by the glass with paper.
