Abstract
A practical survey was performed right after big earthquake “2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake” that hit eastern area in Tohoku-district at 11 March 2011. The extent of damage to the masonry garden walls was numerically evaluated. Heavily affected area deduced by those values could be correlated with a place where the ground is not firm. Through the survey, some findings for studying how to cope with the situation in existing those walls were obtained. Several common situations are detailed and many defects due to construction error were disclosed.
