Abstract

This paper presents traditional wooden buildings in the preserved district in Murata Town, Miyagi prefecture. Architectural laws have been revised many times. When considering the damage of the earthquake, seismic retrofitting is necessary, but it is difficult to achieve both a traditional construction method and current laws. In this paper, we consider a method that conforms to the current laws by traditional construction method and report its contents.
