COLLAPSE OF SUSPENDED CEILING OF THE AUDITORIUM IN KUDAN KAIKAN

(Part 2: Historical background and identification of construction of the ceiling)

Abstract

The paper reports the results of the cause investigations of the suspended ceiling collapse, in the auditorium of Kudan Kaikan, which occurred during the off the pacific of Tohoku earthquake on March 11^th, 2011. In part 2, the structural identification and the historical documentations of the ceiling are described, while the detection of the mechanical behavior and process of the collapse of the ceiling are reported in the part 1.
