Abstract

This paper studied the influence of the diversity of the direction of pedestrians (“DDP”) on the feeling of vibrancy. Sixteen processed images, which have different situations of the DDP, the number of people, the presence of shops, and the width of the street, were presented to test subjects. Analysis of variance showed the DDP has a certain influence on the feeling of vibrancy, and when it is large, the subjects feel lively and fun. In addition, the analysis of interactions showed that the effect of the DDP does not sufficiently appear if the number of the people is small.
