Abstract

The aim of this study is to report the production process of full-scale model of “SAITO HOUSE” designed by Seike Kiyosi. The model was exhibited in The Japanese House : Architecture and Life after 1945 at MOMAT (The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo). There are 4 characteristics of SAITO HOUSE, 1: A floating volume cantilevered from existing concrete basement, 2: A big south-facing opening 3: Continuous interior space, 4: Symbolic character of round column in the living room. This study clarifies that making full-scale model is new method that can comprehensively understand the designer’s intention including design and construction.
