Abstract

Through the process of Shinjuku Mitsui Building’s lobby and landscape renewal, following points become clear as renovating POPS of Specified Block System in Tokyo.
1) Organizing the data about how the POPS were located and has been maintained is important to negotiate with the municipal government about what should be respected in its renovation. 2) The reasons to re-locate the POPS had been based on the disaster prevention, while the public interest is the rising reason. 3) It is the key concept for realization of compelling communication space in today’s office building, to plan both interior/exterior and public/semi-public space together.
