It is well-known that Kenzo Tange and Yoshikatsu Tsuboi jointly designed the Yoyogi National Stadium, but their first collaborative project was the Ehime Prefectural Hall, completed in 1953. Related materials are found in the collections of Tange’s daughter, Michiko Uchida, and the Kawaguchi Kenichi Laboratory of the Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo. Close investigation elucidates the study process of Tange and Tsuboi for designing the gymnasium. This analysis will prove useful for analyzing the Yoyogi National Stadium design process.
