Abstract

Especially the population of intermediate and mountainous areas is aging at an unusually rapid rate. This paper aims to clarify living behaviors of elderly people and their spatial patterns in mountain villages which have many spatial restrictions on daily living activities. In particular it examines the movement patterns of elderly people with various lifestyle types who live in agricultural communities in intermediate and mountainous areas. For this purpose, the author conducted research based on headings for individuals and the data of people wearing wristwatch-type GPS in three different areas of Akiohta-Cho.
