Thermal comfort in care facilities in summer has a considerable impact on senior’s health. In addition to elders’ physiological demands, thermal environment design should also take the psychological demands of elders in different countries into consideration. This study took Shanghai as an example, conducted a survey to 113 elders on their attitude and preference regarding air-conditioning usage. The results indicated that Chinese elders generally had a lower degree of dependence on air-conditioning. Meanwhile, correlation test results suggested elders’ personal attributes such as gender and age as well as attributes of the bedrooms have significant impacts on their preference.
