Abstract

This study clarifies land use change along and current usage of ‘Sewari Tsuro’ in central area of Hamamatsu City. Because ‘Sewari Tsuto’ is regarded as ‘article 42-1 Douro’ of Building Standard Law, its existence has affected to site consolidation or building height at the block which faces to arterial road. In the blocks located away from Hamamatsu Station, there’re many residential uses by low-rise detached houses. ‘Sewari Tsuro’ there is well functioned as the role keeping community bond and is highly evaluated by residents. They use it as hidden pedestrian or variously utilize narrow space facing to ‘Sewari Tsuro’.
