The damage of a steel gymnasium building structure due to strong flood waters was studied through the on-site investigation. The main characteristic points from the damage investigation were shown below.
1) The indoor water flow was varied by the resistance force of the indoor walls.
2) The out-of-plane deformation of bracings due to strong flood flow influences on the in-plain framing responses.
3) The external force to the building due to the flood flow was roughly estimated by consideration based on the careful observation of the damages and several calculations.
