This paper reported on the design of skyscrapers in the “Conservation Integrated Redevelopment Project” for preserving previously unreported historic buildings and constructing skyscrapers. In particular, we focused on the podium façade design of skyscrapers, which is indispensable for continuous townscape creation, and reported on the design process and planning intent from the initial plan to the realization plan.
In case of the Mitsui Main Building block redevelopment project, the Architect tried to harmonize the Mitsui Main Building with the skyscraper “Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower”.
This paper summarized the surveys, judgment factors, issues and responses, and construction plans conducted for that purpose.
