Abstract

The purpose of this project is to clarify the relationship between sand dunes and the spatial configuration of settlements, with a focus on Takenohama, Toyooka City, Pref.Hyogo. Understanding the influence of the region’s unique climate on the formation of settlements is essential for developing sustainable livelihoods in multinatural areas. From the literature on dunes and old maps and drawings of the settlement, it was found that the Takenohama settlement is a combination of two spatial forms, defined by a topography consisting of dunes.
