Abstract

This study focuses on the declining birthrate in Shimane Prefecture and clarifies the impact of school integration on districts after school reorganization. First, we consider the changes in the number of schools and students, as well as the status of the formulation of school reorganization plans by municipalities. Second, focusing on Izumo City, which underwent wide-area merger in Heisei period, we considered three school districts that were on an integrated framework. Furthermore, we took cognizance of the background and the situation after these districts were divided into two districts that joined the integrated elementary school and one district that continued.
