Abstract

This paper reports the results of an examination on how the increase in residential floor area affects the child population and the number of students in public elementary and junior high schools. By analyzing data from 2002 to 2021 in the central area of Tokyo, it was confirmed that for every 1,000 square meters of residential floor area, there is an increase in the number of young children by 2.9 to 4.2 individuals, an increase in elementary school students by 0.4 to 1.2 individuals, and an increase of 0.15 individuals in the number of junior high school students.
