Abstract

This research discusses a smoke control method for temporary refuge spaces in small-scale buildings with a single staircase, aimed at ensuring fire evacuation safety when a fire occurs near the staircase. Closing the door to the temporary refuge space can prevent smoke from entering in the early stages of the fire. However, over time, smoke can enter through gaps in doors and ceilings. Smoke vents in fire rooms can reduce the pressure. In contrast, the impact of openings in temporary refuge spaces can be either positive or negative, depending on the openings around the fire room.
