Abstract

This study investigated energy-saving effects of a ground source ventilation system for mushroom cultivation faculties that prefer environment with low temperatures and high humidities. An energy simulation program was created and validated with measured data. The ground source ventilation system allowed to supply adequate temperature and humidity to the facility, showing 7% and 24% smaller energy consumptions than conventional ventilation with exhaust fans in summer and winter, respectively, in Hiroshima. The result also suggested that further effects were achieved in cold regions, which had low outdoor temperatures in winter and required large amounts of energy for ventilation.
