Abstract

The aim of this paper is to clarify the spatial composition of the street by arrangements of elements and visitor’s activities on street space through the practice of the social experiment in the Tobu Basyamichi Street, Utsunomiya city. First, the characteristics of each area are examined by arrangements of elements such as furnitures and street facilities and adjacent buildings. Secondly, the placement of people’s postures and activities and surrounding elements are examined. Finally, from comparing the placement of each area, the spatial characteristics of each area in the scenes are analyzed and the composition of the street space are clarified.
