Abstract

This study examined the changes and issues facing the 280 DOCOMOMO Japan selected buildings up to FY2022, based on the status of their registration as cultural assets and demolition. This enabled the study to identify the role that the DOCOMOMO Japan selection has inherited and the challenges it faces in the future. As the nomination rules were revised from the 2023 selection, the selection up to FY2022 would be a milestone and a good opportunity to reflect on the role that the selection has played to date.
