This study conducted an analysis to differentiate target performance levels for seismic design based on the intended use of buildings. The seismic hazard assessment of spectral accelerations, published by the Headquarters for Earthquake Research Promotion, was utilized to calibrate the current practices of seismic design in Japan, including the importance factors used for governmental facilities.
