Abstract
The purpose of this study is to clarify earthquake resistance efficiency of nonstructural elements such as external walls, partition walls and ceilings. Firstly, three classifications of damage are proposed for several kinds of nonstructural elements based on damage pattern of each element due to the 1995 Hyogo-ken Nambu earthquake. Secondly, using the classifications, relationships between damage of nonstructural elements and that of structural elements are analyzed for about 140 buildings that suffered with the earthquake.
