Abstract
Through examining the socio-ecological basics of the Northern Pantanal, this study makes suggestions for the sustainable development on the ecotourism of the Pantanal, which is known as one of the great marsh that contains the largest fauna and flora in the world. In consequences, planning for the future is summarized as follows: (1) it is need to extend natural preserved area such as Road Park and RPPN (Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural) in the marsh. (2) Ecotours planned by farms and the education of ecotourism for local residents are requested. (3) Environmental policies should take account of the extensive area formed by atmospheric and hydrological circulation.
