Abstract
Snow gliding and snow gliding induced erosion were observed in a experimental slope in the Hachimantai Area, northeastern japan. Snow gliding was restricted along the break line in the experimental slope. Snow cover on the break line was presumably broken occasionally to occur many bare grounds, those toes were arranged along the break line and expected to useful for predicting a full-depth snow avalanche. Snow erosion directly induced by snow gliding was relatively small. Snow gliding, however, affect significantly on geomorphic process in snowy mountains, because it causes significant soil creeping.
