Abstract

Effect of “Lease greenhouse project” started in 1996 in Kitsuki-shi, Oita Pref., on existing cheap vinyl greenhouses are examined. Iron-framed greenhouses constructed by the agricultural coop association were leased for 20 years to young successor of mandarin growers so that they could save large early investment. Merits of these leased greenhouse are typhoon-resistant, no need to renew vinyl cover, save energy for better insulation, and save labor for better efficiency. Management of the young successors has been stabilized, enabling them to renew even the existing vinyl house mandarin growing that has been practiced for many years.
