Abstract
The possibilities for people to enjoy marine leisure and access the sea have multiplied, and so have the impacts on the marine and coastal environment. Water pollution through sewage and gasoline, depletion of fishing resources, loss of natural landscapes through development of leisure facilities are just some examples of negative influences. On the other hand, reuse of industrial facilities for leisure might improve the environment and enjoying the sea can help to raise awareness for environmental problems. This paper will examine the attitudes and activities of participants, administration, tourism and leisure industries and inhabitants of the coastal areas. The aim is to develop forms of marine leisure that put as little stress as possible on the environment.
