Abstract
The conventional annual temperature range is defined as the mean monthly temperature, that is, the difference between the highest and lowest average monthly temperature. The author thinks that this conventional definition does not describe the real annual range of air temperature. Therefore, he tries to propose the new and quasi range of annual temperature(Y) instead of the conventional one(X). Y is the difference between the highest and lowest of monthly averages of daily extremes. The statistic analysis results in Y=1.3701X (R2=0.7772) by using climatological data of world-wide observations. Shortly speaking, the new and quasi range of annual temperature is 1.3~1.4 times as large as the conventional range. This new definition is suitable for global warming time.
