Abstract

There are two valuable records of freezing in Lake Suwa, central Japan. One record was observed by Suwa local meteorological observatory during past 50 years. Another one has been done by Nagano Prefecture since 1975. We analyzed these records and clarified the annual variation of freezing date, break-up date and freezing duration in Lake Suwa from 1945 to 2008. The results show that break-up and freezing duration in the lake have becom earlier.
