Abstract
In the present study, we investigated the possible mechanism for interannual variations of winter sunshine duration in Northern Vietnam for the period 1961-2000. Based on monthly sunshine duration data in Northern Vietnam, we defined poor sunshine year and much sunshine year. Then, we created composite map for sea level pressure (SLP) field for both much sunshine and poor sunshine years. In much sunshine year, anticyclonic anomaly area covers over southern China and northern Indochina peninsula, In poor sunshine year, on the other hand, we found out anticyclonic anomaly over southern China and cyclonic anomaly around south of Tibetan plateau
