Abstract
The authors study about water-balance climate and year climate in Nara by using meteorological data from latter Meiji to early Showa. Why this period is used is because there are many stations enough to distinguish climatic features of Nara basin. In this paper, in order to make clear dryness of Nara basin, climatic features such as Martonne's Arid Index, Thornthwaite's Water Balance, Koppen's Year Climate, etc are analyzed by meteorological data 1905-1935. In some results of stdies it is made clear that the driest year (drought year, 1927) at Yagi meteorological station shows more evapotranspiration than rainfall from May to Augast. And it is also shown that the year climate of Nara (Yagi) is proved Cfa and Cwa by Koppen's classification while the climate type by 30 year's mean is only Cfa.
