Abstract
Many farmers still conduct shifting cultivation in the hills of Laos. In addition they have traditionally conducted cattle razing. The purpose of the presentation is to recover the land use system of their cattle razing. The conclusions are as follows. 1) The most important area for the pasture is imperata grasslands on Karstic mountains. 2) Fallows of 2 or 3 years are also important for the grazing area. The land use of animal grazing is related to the one of shifting cultivation. 3) The policy of the government has changed the land use system of cattle razing.
