Abstract
michi-no-eki are road stations registered by the ministry of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism (mlit) as having the following 3 functions (basic funtions):-rest area (toilet and parking)-creating solidarity in a local area (culture and events)-informtion dissemination (roads and sightseeing)the system started out with 103 road stations, with the number rising up to 987 a of March 26, 2012.At present, in addition to the basic functions,their function as a "nodal point of interaction" of people and information seems to have evolved through farmers markets, restaurants, festivals, events, etc. examining shiga prefecture's michi-no-eki as a case study, this paper explains the writers' findings regarding "regional revitalization strategy through tourism information dissemination function."
