The purpose of this paper is to analyze the present conditions of the mountain villages of Japan in the early 21st century. The mountain villages of early 21st century Japan are divided into seven groups with regard to overall population decline and the proportion of young inhabitants. We find that the number of mountain villages where the population actually increased during this time period is small when compared to those villages that experienced dramatic decreases in population. The mountain villages in Japan of today have deterioration of the function for management of forest and preservation of country.

Hydrological investigations were conducted through August into September 2003, 2004 and 2011 on the headwaters of River Cibin and Chindrel mountainous area in the Danube drainage system on the northern foot of the Southern Carpathians. The main purpose of the present paper is to clarify the effect of human activity on the quality of inland water. The concentrtion of dissolved substances in the water of River Cibin shows the maximum value at the uppermost observation point and decreases downstream due to dilution. Such a characteristic spatial change in river water quality is significantly affected by untreated household effluent from a settlement, which is located on the mountain ridge. On the contrary, no human effect is recognized in the quality of inland water in Chindrel mountainous area, where only transhumance of sheep has been performed. It is pointed out that quality of river water in the rural settlement has a tendency to improve after Romania was affiliated with EU in 2007.

1. IntroductionIn order to perform river management and environmental preservation of a river basin, grasp of the water area environment in a valley unit is needed.by the spread of GIS(s), space grasp of the river basin was markedly alike, and became simple in recent years, and expression of the various water quality formation factors of rivers, such as climate and geographical feature, was attained.By the research consortium of "geography of water environment", "water [of a river basin ] environmental database" creation is tried in 2000 and afterwards. At this laboratory, research of river characteristic grasp accomplished by the first-grade rivers and large-scale branches (2008, Shinano River branch Uono River, Morimoto), such as Teshio River (2006, Shimizu), and the Kitakami river (2009, Hirayama). This research performs valley characteristic grasp of the basin system valley classified by hips as part of a water environmental database.Although there is a report by Mt. Yotei springwater and public water quality observation in a here region, there is no example which the water analysis of the whole basin system including a branch constituted. The water analysis by a main ingredient and the valley characteristic analysis using GIS are introduced. 2. method of research Natural regional geography creation according the public creation data of digital national information etc., etc. to space grasp on the river scale for GIS software was performed. Moreover, in order to perform water quality characteristic grasp of the Shiribetsu River basin system, the like [ 50 point ] sampling of the river Mogami style part according to a main stream, the branch lower stream more than a 2nd order style, springwater, and it was performed late in 5, 7, and September, 2012, and local observation (temperature, water temperature, a flow, EC, pH, RpH) was performed.Main componential analysis by TOC and ion chromatography was conducted after filtering a sample at the laboratory, and figure-ization by GIS software performed clear grasp of the valley characteristic. 3. result and consideration Various rivers, such as acid rivers, such as a sulfur river, a fake Koanbetsu river, etc. before and after [ pH 4.0 ] carrying out the origin to Iwaonupuri(1,116 m), and a river where springwater supply is high including around pH 8.0 Makari rivers etc., exist in a valley. Most valleys serve as a forest and EC of the mouth-of-a-river part late in May shows that there are little 95 micrometer/cm and anthropogenic impact. However, in the small-scale river of Dairy Belt or the cultivated land style neighborhood, pH and EC are subject to artificial high influence. 4. conclusion It became clear that the river which has the various characteristics in the Shiribetsu River basin system by this research existed.I would like to continue investigation, to grasp year change and to continue to solve the basin system characteristic and water quality formation of each river.

However we also have some anxieties there because these movement in Japan really looks like that of Ecomuseums about ten years ago. We need reexamination of the Ecomuseums here not to make same mistakes of them and make Geoparks sustainable. I'll show five major problems of Japanese Ecomuseums (scientific basis, referencability, monetization, augmentability, ethics and philosophy), refer to the anxieties and expectations of Geoparks from these points of view.

Dzuds - extreme winter conditions - are Mongolia's worst natural disaster. Dzuds lead to great animal mortality, disrupt pastoral livelihoods and food supply and displace herders to cities. These events reflect several interrelated pastoral dynamics including climate, social, economic and government factors. Today a combination of human and natural forces results in greater exposure to dzud in the country. This presentation examines the role of herders and government policy in dzud events, evaluates factors that create and mitigate dzud exposure and then expands to integrate a regional perspective and assess the role of research in the dzud debate.

To evaluate the effects of concentrating livestock in villages in Mongolia, we compared the weights of sheep and goats managed as a typical migratory herd and an experimental sedentary herd from June 2006 to December 2007. The weights of the sheep peaked in November/December and declined until March-May. During the decline, the sedentary group lost more weight than the migratory one. In goats, the sedentary group was lighter in June but the migratory one reached the level of the former in July. In May of the second year, the sedentary herd became significantly lighter than the migratory one. These results show the apparent negative effects of sedentary grazing on the weights of sheep and goats.

The phase of urbanization in Japan changed since the late 1990's. The conversion from population transfer excess to the excess of population moving in was seen in central areas of largest metropolitan areas such as Tokyo. In addition, the expansion of commuting areas to the central city stopped, and some areas decreasing in population appeared in suburb. It is proper to recognize the situation as the urbanization of the post-growth society. The necessity of a continuous observation of the phenomenon was pointed out for understanding a structural transformation in the three largest metropolitan areas.
