Abstract
The Mongolian Plateau, which is located at the eastern edge of pastoral region in Central Eurasia, shares a common feature that the major mode of subsistence is mobile pastoralism (nomadism) with other areas in Central Eurasia. On the other hand, however, it has uniqueness in the pattern of mobile pastoralism and historical change because of its conditions of location. This report overviews the origin and historical change of mobile pastoralism in the Mongolian Plateau first of all. After that, it mentions trade and otor as actions to avoid the risk of disaster, and the current condition of mobile pastoralism there.
