Role of the academics on Geopark activities

Abstract

Oki Islands Geopark, Shimane Prefecture is aiming to join for the Global Geoparks Network.The activity of the Oki Islands Geopark has a special future. There is an achievement of the activity developed by local people.I joined the activity as an expert geologist after the Geopark became a Japan Geoparks Network. So I found some weak-points such as scientific methods and the gap between academics and local people. In addition, I also much learned the role and ability which academics called on. I discuss about how to link science with local during Geopark activity with its now and future vision.
