Abstract
The purpose of this research is to clarify the current state of Japanese National Parks, and identify the issues that they face. There are currently 30 designated National Parks in Japan. The majority of these parks was designated before the 1970s, and has gradually increased since then to reach the number we have today. National Parks is not only nationally owned land, but also public land and privately owned land. Privately owned land makes up 26% of the total land designated as National Parks, which causes issues with coordination between personal rights and official regulations.
