Abstract
I examined the characters of ethnic businesses in Hyson Green district centre.  This centre located in inner-city of Nottingham, UK.   In 1997, Nottingham City adopted local plan which covered whole city area firstly.  This plan established three-fold classification of centres.  City centre is the regional centre and served the whole og Greater Nottingham for comparison goods.  There were four district centres and many local centres in the local plan.  District and local centres were protected from out-of-centre retail developments.   In 2005, Nottingham City new replaced new local plan replaced one published in 1997.  This plan also established three-fold classification of centers, City Centre, town centres and local centres.  The City Centre and four district centres area the focus for shopping, services, leisure, community activities and public transport and are locations where mixed use development shouldbe encouraged.  The local centres fulfill an important function for local neighbourhoods.
