Abstract
We obtained accurate changes in sea level and coastal environment since the last deglaciation on the coast of Kagoshima Bay on the basis of bore-hole data, molluscan shell, C-14 age and tephra. Sea-level changes are as follows: rapid rise between c. 15,000 and c. 13,000 cal BP, slow rise between c. 13,000 and c. 11,500 cal BP, rapid rise between c.11,500 and c. 7,500 cal BP. The depth of the mouth of the palaeo-river in the northern coast and the deepest point in the mouth of the bay suggest Kagoshima bay was lake in LGM.
