Abstract
Sever coastal erosion has occurred near two inlets of Tam Giang Lagoon in Central Vietnam after the historical flood in 1999. And long sandy beach between the two inlets has been eroded about 100m wide during the last 50 years. Such coastal erosion has given various influences not only on the existing settlements but also on newly developed resort area, large-scale shrimp farming and an important historical Cham tower. In this study, we introduce the current status and impact of coastal erosion and examine some countermeasures against it, taking into account the effects of sea level rise in the future.
