Abstract
Redevelopment in built-up areas which have the characteristics of inner city or urban sprawl has played an important role in detached housing provision after the collapse of the bubble economy. However, such small-scale and fragmented renewal in areas of dilapidated housing and population decline does not necessarily lead to population growth. The life cycle of population and housing in old built-up areas, as well as economic factors such as the collapse of the bubble economy, has influenced housing development.
