We reinvestigated an elongated small ridge in the Asahiike Cirque of Mount Asahi, the northern Japanese Alps (the Hida Range). Previously, this ridge was considered to be a push moraine formed in the Holocene. However, our data show that this ridge was produced by gravitational mass rock deformation and landsliding on the cirque wall slopes in the past 700 yrs. This ridge and adjacent valley floor are truncated by a thrust with small displacement. Morphogenetic environments of the alpine and subalpine slopes in the northern Japanese Alps should be examined by not only glacial and periglacial geomorphology but landslide geomorphology.

The number of environment-related technologies has increased remarkably over the past two decades, as has the public’s interest in effective resource use and ways to reduce the effects of global warming. Such an increase in the environment-related technologies has also encouraged growth in environment-related industries based on these technologies. The purpose of the present paper is to explicate regional competitiveness of the environment-related industries in Japan. As a result, using the OECD regional patent statistics and SWOT analysis, it was revealed that prefectures classified into metropolitan areas had relatively high regional competitiveness.

The authors examined Max Kohl’s terrestrial globe, which is one of the globes kept in Fukuyama-Seishikan Alumni Association, Okayama Pref. The scale of the terrestrial globe is 42Wx42Dx71H in centimeter, and the diameter of the globe is 30.9cm. It has brass (?) meridian ring and wooden (metal plate pasted upper part) horizontal ring supported by 4 brass (?) forks, wooden pedestal column with 3 legs. The sphere is covered by 12 gores and 2 polar caps. Meridian and parallel lines are depicted every 10 degrees. Prime-meridian of this globe seems to be drawn in 32 or 33 degrees w.lon. Mountain ranges are depicted by hachure lines, and Hoang-ho (Yellow R) distributaries into both seas, Bo-hai and Yellow Sea.
This globe was produced in a period during from 1898 to 1908 according to our examination of the geographical information such as place names and boundaries in Africa, Central and South America, Eastern Asia on the globe. Though it is said to be a gift from Abe Family, this was not used in the clan school ‘Seishikan’ established by the Fukuyama Seignior. Because of its abolition in 1872, it was bought as teaching material of geography at teachers college or secondary school of higher education, in later years.
This cartouche consists of the character string with two methods of printing; one was printed using conventional plate, and the other was printed with hollow letters in black frame using a reverse plate. This printing manner is extraordinary for the cartouche. Therefore, it is understood that the name of the original globe maker was overlaid by the name of Max Kohl. Here, the following question arises. Who exchanged the name to Max Kohl in why, when and where? Max Kohl originally, was a manufacturing and sales company (or dealer) of scientific instruments of school teaching materials, though they sold some small tellurium, lunarium and Armillary spheres as shown in the catalogue with price list. Therefore, it is possible to two assumptions. 1) The company was compelled to produce globes immediately after acquiring of a globe-maker in Berlin, and they had no time for gores’ plate remaking after rename. 2) Or, it is simply considered that was the result of sales strategy.
There is another question, however. Did a Japanese dealer replace the name by Max Kohl that was the famous world-wide company at that time? This must be clarified by the chemical analysis of printing ink of the cartouche. Since the examination of the original globe maker has been carried out by Ms. Wohlschläger, this problem will be resolved in the near future. A model was developed to calculate the full-blossoming dates of cherry tree (
Prunus yedoensis). This result was compared with that to calculate first-flowering dates, in order to detect the difference of response to temperature among the two phenophases. DTS-method, an accumulation model, taking account of nonlinear response against temperature, was applied to development of models. As a preliminary analysis, the temperature characteristics
Ea, which represent the change in developing rates as a factor of temperature condition, was deduced, and the suitable value of
Ea for full-blossoming (70 kJ mol
-1) was in agreement with that for first-flowering of
P. yedoensis.
The model of full-blossoming of cherry tree needed to determine other two suitable variables (starting date
D2, and DTS accumulation required until full-blossoming date) than
Ea value, for precise estimation. Suitable starting dates
D2 fell within the range of DOY 20 – 60, reflecting the difference of the timing when temperature condition starts to influence on flower buds. Suitable DTS accumulation value, needed to reach full-blossoming status, was determined as 26.4 days. Estimated full-blossom dates showed the error of 1 – 3 days in root mean square error.
The suitable starting dates (
D2) for full-blossoming were later than those for first-flowering. Furthermore, the suitable DTS value (determined as 26.4 days) accumulated from
D2 until full-blossoming date, determined as 26.4 days, was somewhat larger than that needed until first-flowering status (23.8 days). Naturally the flower buds causing full-blossoming and first-flowering are distinct. The former may have been released from dormancy inadequately than the latter. Therefore, this lag of dormancy completion of flower buds, which come out on full-blossoming date, caused increment of DTS value required to be accumulated until flowering.

We analyze that time separately before the Great East Japan Earthquake and TV animation broadcasts later. We focus on the changes of the awareness of Garupan and human relationships with local residents and Garupan fans that managers have had. The goal of the research is to verify “how effective is it to use the GIS for evaluating the medical supply system. “We made a medical map in order to make a detailed analysis of the several Medical administrative areas in Kanagawa prefecture. The medical map allows the simulation map to find out clearly the areas that lack in medical facilities, by using the GIS. By looking at the medical map, we can find out the areas with inadequate medical services because we analyze the map by imagining how a person would act in reality, by finding the nearest hospital to one’s own house.

Vernagt is located in the Mediterranean climate zone and does not have enough pasture to feed livestock because of high altitude. Therefore, the transhumance of sheep has been practiced between Vernagt and Niedertal (Austria). This study discusses the relationship between modern tourism and local people’s ordinary lives through the transhumance of sheep in Vernagt of the northern part of Italy. Tourists find the ordinary event to locals like the transhumance of Vernagt as an extraordinary attraction but their participation usually happens without permission from the local people, which may result in only an interference with their work and lives.

British National Park Authorities and the Countryside Agency/ the Natural England have pursued the substantiation and optimization of their management under the zoning system. The Land Management Initiatives from 1999 to 2004 promoted it.
Integration of the farm and local/rural community was enhanced. Partnership among the stakeholders is another characteristic of them. The long-term activities of the National Trust in Snowdonia are investigated. Its consistent activity is embedded with the wide-range trust by the public. These approaches help foster
social capital and capacity building of local action groups in the national park areas.

At the study meeting of this association, autumn 2015, I proposed a new hypothesis: “An original viewpoint which dictates the location selections of the ancient central roads during the Asuka era and of the Fujiwara-Gu Imperial Audience Hall”, at the historical geography session. In here the main buildings and roads had been built from the orthocenter, Taiji, of the three holy mountains in the ancient Asuka, Yamato-Sanzan during the Empress Suiko Period. As the orthocenter could be obtained using the high-precision map of Yamato-Sanzan, the burden of its proof of mapping- probability is on the present author. Using ancient Chinese mathematical and astrological books, like the Sea Island Mathematical Manual, I will restore the map-measuring method.
