Abstract
Addition to mountaineering, trail running, and navigation sports are gaining popularity.
The diversification of utilization of mountains as sports arena might deteriorate
risk management for mountaineering. It is pointed out that more people climb
mountains without appropriate knowledge and skill easily ask rescue because of
minor reasons. Extreme mountain sports might be another source of anxiety. I
will review the situation of mountain sports from the view point of risk and
will discuss how we improve risk management from organizational side and
enlighten individual mountaineers or people engage in activities among mountains
on risk competency among mountains.
