Investigation of climate change in Asia through climate data rescue

Abstract

In Asia, climate data before the 1950s have not been well digitized yet, since many countries were under colonized conditions. In Japan, old lighthouse data, overseas data before and during WWII and some other data have also not well digitized yet. Here, we will summarize recent climate data rescue activities both in Japan and abroad, and will discuss how to better utilize these rescued climate data in future climate researches.
