Abstract
This presentation considers the process of “rural gentrification” with special focus on the re-valuation of rural space. In the context of contemporary “economy of enrichment”, re-valuation of place is considered significantly important in that it has a possibility to produce the commons. But then, it is at risk of generating the problem of gentrification. We examine its bifurcation, with taking a Sasayama as the study area, where a series of renovation projects or measures are being conducted.
