Abstract
In the northern region of the Tianshan Mountains, flood damage from glacial lakes emerging・ floating in only 1 to several months called "short-lived glacier lakes" has been reported (Narama et al, 2010). The floodwaters from the glacial lake are generated through the ice tunnel developed in the debris zone including the ice on the front of the glacier, but the actual state of the development process, location, scale, opening and closing of the ice tunnels are almost unclear. Therefore, in this study, in order to grasp the position and size of the ice tunnel which makes a short-lived glacier lake appear, it carried out surveying of GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) in the northern region of the Tianshan Mountains where the ice tunnel can be confirmed.
