Abstract

Aseismic crustal movements are closely related with formation of large scale geomorpology in the Japan Arc. The presenter propose a hypothetical classification on the aseismic crustal movements into following categories from the view of mechanism.

1. Arc-arc collision such as Hidaka Range and Southrn Alps,

2. Magma intrusion such as Northern Alps

3. Crustal buckling such as the chains of basin and range in the north-east Honshu

4. Complex of above mentioned mechanisms and seismic defromations.

Note that shis is just hypothetical. I wish discussion and criticism.
