Abstract

The Prefectural “Nationwide Historical Walk Series”, Yamakawa Shuppansha Ltd. has been a unique and precious historical and geographical information source. The reason is that this series of books provides mostly reliable knowledge, comes in unified style with plentiful maps, and covers nationwide. The authors are local high-school teachers so that this series can cover nationwide. However the motivation and map-reading skill of the authors differ. After all, some part of the books contain a few inaccurate information and wrong marks on map. Nevertheless, the value of these books doesn’t decrease even in the internet era because it cannot be replaced.
