High school geography textbooks cover gentrification and inner city problems based on the case of the redevelopment the Docklands, East London. This paper examines the issue from the following two perspectives. Firstly, since the basis of geography study is reading geography textbooks, the paper analyses the descriptions of London in geography textbooks: three high school geography inquiry textbooks, seven geography general textbooks, and Oxford's IB Diploma Programme, Geography 2nd edition. Secondly, the paper examines gentrification and inner city problems in East London with respect to the descriptions in these textbooks by analysing landscape changes and statistics.
