Abstract

The promotion of ecological civilization (EC) incorporated into China's constitution in 2018, has spurred the need for sustainable economic reforms, especially in Liaoning and Jilin provinces, known for heavy industries. With a significant Manchu population in these provinces, shamanism has evolved into a cultural tourism resource aligned with green growth objectives. This study investigates the contemporary transformation of Manchu shamanism during the socio-economic transition influenced by the EC. Notably, the emergence of Siden Shaman, operating independently from specific clans and engaging publicly, signifies changes in the traditional practice. This study examinined this transformation by focusing on Siden Shaman.
